Diary for My Children

Juli (Czinkóczi Zsuzsa) is a girl who has lost her parents and comes back from the Soviet Union to her native Budapest, carrying the wounds of what she left behind. She is taken in by her aunt Magda (Anna Polony), who becomes her adoptive mother while Stalin's oppression still hangs over the country. Márta Mészáros sets the two of them against each other, a guarded child and a woman she does not yet trust to love her.
