Two 15-year-old friends, Betsy (Kirsten Dunst) and Arlene (Michelle Williams), slip away from a class trip to the White House and run into President Nixon (Dan Hedaya). He gives them a job walking his dog Checkers, and soon they are advising him through Watergate. Andrew Fleming keeps the girls wide-eyed and cheerful as Woodward (Will Ferrell) and Bernstein (Bruce McCulloch) circle, Checkers trotting along at the end of the leash.
