Diner

(1982)Directed by Barry Levinson110 min · RComedy, Drama
“Suddenly, life was more than French fries, gravy, and girls.”

It's Baltimore in 1959, and the old crowd comes back to the diner because Eddie Simmons (Steve Guttenberg) is getting married. Barry Levinson, in his first film as a director, lets the talk run long, with Shrevie (Daniel Stern), Boogie (Mickey Rourke) and Fenwick (Kevin Bacon) slouched in the booths. Underneath the jokes, each man is holding off adulthood, and the friendships are what make that possible.
