“Look up.”

Rich Boyd (Jason Bateman) is a lawyer who answers his phone at dinner, in the car, anywhere his family happens to be. Across town, a widowed ex-cop (Frank Grillo) is raising a son who bullies a classmate online, and a married couple is looking to strangers on the internet to get away from each other. Henry Alex Rubin follows these households in separate, interleaved scenes and lets them cross paths as the film goes on.
