Dishonored Lady

(1947)Directed by Robert Stevenson85 minCrime, Drama
“Unbridled passion . . . scandal . . . murder!”

Madeleine Damien (Hedy Lamarr) is the art editor of a magazine, and she has gone through a string of lovers without loving any of them. After a failed affair with the advertiser Felix Courtland (John Loder) and a suicide attempt, she quits her job and retreats to a quiet life, where a neighbor, Dr. David Cousins (Dennis O'Keefe), befriends her. Robert Stevenson films it as a noir, with her past arriving at the door.
