Pilots in the Navy keep blacking out in steep dives, and no one has found a way to stop it. Douglas S. Lee (Errol Flynn), a military surgeon, sets out to design a high-altitude suit, working alongside the flyer Joe Blake (Fred MacMurray). Michael Curtiz shoots it in Technicolor, putting the carrier USS Enterprise and the 1941 Navy aircraft on the screen as they were.
