Divided We Fall

A man the Čížeks once knew turns up at their door in 1943, and they have to decide what to do with him. Josef (Bolek Polívka) and Marie (Anna Šišková) hide David Wiener (Csongor Kassai), the son of Josef's old employer, in a secret pantry of their apartment, with neighbours on every side. Jan Hřebejk stays on a frightened man doing what is decent anyway, which is a harder thing than courage.
