Divorce American Style

“If you thought divorce was ugly, try marriage!”

Richard Harmon (Dick Van Dyke) and his wife Barbara (Debbie Reynolds) have spent seventeen years in the same suburban house, and when counseling fails to fix anything, they choose to divorce. Bud Yorkin directs the Norman Lear script, which follows the two of them into a world of lawyers, new partners and alimony. For Richard, the question becomes how much it will cost to leave a marriage he can no longer stand.
