Dolemite Is My Name

“Make your own legend”

Rudy Ray Moore (Eddie Murphy) is a Los Angeles record store clerk in the 1970s who wants to be a star and has not found the way in. Then he builds the loud, profane pimp Dolemite out of street stories, and decides the character deserves a movie, with D'Urville Martin (Wesley Snipes) directing. Craig Brewer fills the film with sweat and cheap sets, and Rudy keeps pushing, sure that nobody else is going to hand him the spotlight.
