Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors

(2015)Directed by Stephen Herek120 min · GDrama, TV Movie

In the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955, nine-year-old Dolly Parton (Alyvia Alyn Lind) stitches herself a coat from a box of fabric scraps, and her mother Avie Lee (Jennifer Nettles) sews the pieces along with her. Her father Robert Lee (Ricky Schroder) works to keep the family fed while Rev. Jake Owens (Gerald McRaney) preaches on Sundays. Stephen Herek keeps the camera close to the family, a plain look at one year in the Partons' lives.
