Don Camillo: Monsignor

(1961)Directed by Carmine Gallone109 minComedy

Don Camillo Tarocci (Fernandel) comes back to Brescello wearing a monsignor's rank, and Giuseppe "Peppone" Bottazzi (Gino Cervi) arrives in the same town as a senator. The two men who once fought over the village, priest against Communist mayor, are soon sparring again in the streets they both know by heart. Carmine Gallone's film takes for granted that a rivalry this old is a way of staying close, and that neither man wants it to end.
