Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands
“Dona Flor had two happy marriages. One was made in heaven.”
Dona Flor (Sonia Braga) teaches cooking in 1940s Bahia and is left a widow when her husband Vadinho (José Wilker), handsome and useless, dies. She marries Dr. Teodoro (Mauro Mendonça), a careful, respectable man, and then Vadinho's spirit comes back into her life. Bruno Barreto, adapting Jorge Amado's novel, plays all of it as farce and keeps the camera close and warm.
