Dongji Rescue

“Any Chinese can be a hero.”

Off the coast of Zhoushan in 1942, a Japanese transport ship carrying British prisoners of war goes down in the sea. A Bi (Zhu Yilong), A Dang (Leo Wu), and other local fishermen decide to pull survivors from the water, knowing the Japanese will execute anyone caught helping the enemy. What begins as a few men in small boats becomes a rescue of over three hundred prisoners, each one they save a risk that could cost them their lives.
