Shipping magnate Cyrus Wentworth is shot in his office just as he orders his daughter's fiance, Dick Fleming, out of the house. Captain Street (Grant Withers) arrests Dick, but reporter Bobbie Logan (Marjorie Reynolds) is sure he's the wrong man and brings in detective James Lee Wong (Boris Karloff). William Nigh keeps the case tied to the wrecked liner and its illicit shipment of Chinese bonds.
