Dorian Gray (Helmut Berger) is a young man in London whose looks do not change, no matter how he lives. Basil Hallward (Richard Todd) painted the portrait, and Henry Wotton (Herbert Lom) stands close to him in the years that follow. Massimo Dallamano, adapting Oscar Wilde's novel, keeps one idea in front of us: the face stays smooth while the painting takes the damage.
