Double Indemnity

“It's love and murder at first sight!”

A claims investigator can't shake a feeling about one policy. The man holding it is dead, and the trail leads to Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray), the salesman who first walked into the Dietrichson house, and Phyllis (Barbara Stanwyck), the wife who wants a policy kept from her husband. Billy Wilder puts the two of them in a plain, sunlit living room, venetian blinds laying thin stripes across her ankle bracelet.
