Down Argentine Way

“GLAMOROUS BUENOS AIRES NIGHT LIFE WITH SOUTH AMERICAN'S TANTALIZING, TORRID-VOICED CARMEN MIRANDA”

Glenda Crawford (Betty Grable), an American heiress on holiday in South America, falls for Ricardo Quintana (Don Ameche), an Argentine horse breeder whose family and hers want them kept apart. Irving Cummings films the whole thing in Technicolor, with Carmen Miranda singing "South American Way" and the Nicholas Brothers dancing between the plot scenes. What the film wants you to take from it is how much sheer color, rhythm and noise can be crammed into 90 minutes.
