Down by Law

“It's not where you start - It's where you start again.”

Zack (Tom Waits), a disc jockey, and Jack (John Lurie), a pimp, are both set up and arrested in New Orleans, and they land in the same cell. Jim Jarmusch fills it with long silences and flat, sideways talk until Roberto (Roberto Benigni), an Italian tourist who barely speaks English, is put in with them. The three men can't stand one another, and the cell is all they have.
