Russia in 2001, and Prince Myshkin (Fyodor Bondarchuk), a programmer just released from a Swiss psychiatric clinic, comes back to the country he left. On the bus he meets Parfen Rogozhin (Ivan Okhlobystin), a businessman sick with love for Nastasya Filippovna (Anna Buklovskaya).
