Down in the Valley

“Sometimes it's hard to find your way.”

On a day trip to the beach, teenage Tobe (Evan Rachel Wood) meets Harlan (Edward Norton), a stranger in a cowboy hat who says he used to work on a ranch. They fall for each other fast, which worries her father, Wade (David Morse), a lawman who doesn't trust the man she's with. David Jacobson sets a cowboy's old dream of open land against the suburban sprawl of the San Fernando Valley, where there is no frontier left to ride.
