A young secretary named Traudl Junge (Alexandra Maria Lara) is brought into the bunker beneath Berlin in April 1945, where the Russian Army is closing in from the east and the Allies from the west. Oliver Hirschbiegel puts Adolf Hitler (Bruno Ganz) among his generals and advisers as he orders them to fight to the last man and insists Germany will still win. The people around him keep believing, and the film shows how far one man's certainty can carry others.
