Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

General Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden) is an Air Force commander who has decided, on his own authority, to send his bombers against the Soviet Union. In the war room, President Muffley (Peter Sellers) and General Turgidson (George C. Scott) try to call the planes back while a Russian diplomat looks on. Stanley Kubrick keeps the whole thing flat and straight-faced, so the panic sounds like routine business.
