“Close your eyes and the adventure begins.”

Alex Gardner (Dennis Quaid) is a young man with a psychic gift, and he is recruited into a research program run by Dr. Paul Novotny (Max von Sydow), who has found a way to send him inside other people's dreams. His job is to enter the nightmares of troubled patients and diagnose the trauma behind them. Joseph Ruben builds the story around one man learning how little separates a sleeping mind from a place that can hurt him.
