Drowning Mona

“The death of Mona Dearly wasn't so much a whodunnit, as a who didn't.”

Chief Wyatt Rash (Danny DeVito) is the police chief of Verplanck, New York, a town small enough that everyone knows everyone's business. When Mona Dearly (Bette Midler), a loud, hard-drinking woman, drives her son's car off a cliff and into the river, the death looks less like an accident than a job someone finished. Nick Gomez fills the town with neighbors, family and friends who all disliked her, so Rash has to work out which of them cared enough to act.
