“The most bizarre murder weapon ever used!”

Nobody ever sees the face of the man driving the rusty tanker that David Mann (Dennis Weaver) passes on a two-lane road through the California desert. The salesman is only trying to reach a client on time, and Steven Spielberg, in his first feature, keeps him alone in the car. What starts as a small slight between strangers on an empty highway becomes a fight over whether a man can be made to disappear for a mistake he barely noticed.
