“A Soldier's journey to keep a promise”

Hardayal "Hardy" Singh Dhillon (Shah Rukh Khan) is a soldier who steps off a train in a small Punjab village and makes a promise to four friends who want to get to England. They have no visa and no ticket, only the wish, and Hardy says he will take them there. Rajkumar Hirani sends them toward the desert and the sea, and the bond between Hardy and Manu Randhawa (Taapsee Pannu) is what the rest of the trip leans on.
