Dunya & Desie

On her eighteenth birthday, Dunya El-Beneni (Maryam Hassouni) is told that a husband has been chosen for her, a distant cousin in Morocco she has never met. Her family travels there to meet him, and her best friend Desie Koppenol (Eva van de Wijdeven), newly pregnant, follows to look for the father she has never known. Dana Nechushtan carries two girls from Amsterdam North across the sea and keeps the camera close on both.
