Duse

At the turn of the twentieth century, the Italian stage actress Eleonora Duse (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) commands the theater with a presence that moves audiences to tears. Her life intertwines with her bond with her devoted companion Enrichetta Checchi (Noémie Merlant). Pietro Marcello traces Duse through the years before the war upends everything, lingering on what persists between two women when the world around them begins to fracture.
