Dying to Survive

Cheng Yong (Xu Zheng) sells Indian health products out of a failing shop, broke and behind on everything, until a leukaemia patient asks him to bring back a cheap generic drug from India. Wen Muye builds the comedy out of that small errand and the hundreds of sick people who start lining up behind it. Cheng is not a hero, and the film is based on a real case, so the cost of each shipment is plain: a patient's survival on one side, a smuggling charge on the other.
