Earthquake

“When the big one finally hits L.A.”

Stewart Graff (Charlton Heston), an engineer in Los Angeles, wants out of a marriage to Remy (Ava Gardner), the daughter of his boss, Sam Royce (Lorne Greene). Mark Robson spreads the story across a crowd of strangers whose lives touch only by accident, from Sgt. Lew Slade (George Kennedy) to a young woman Stewart cannot stop thinking about. Then the earthquake arrives, and every one of them is standing somewhere in the city when it does.
