East/West

“An unforgettable story of love, betrayal and survival.”

Aleksei Golovin (Oleg Menshikov) is a Russian physician who brings his French wife Marie (Sandrine Bonnaire) home from France in 1946, after Stalin invites emigres to return. When the ship docks in Odessa, her passport is torn up, and the couple are sent on to Kiev under watch. Régis Wargnier follows Marie, who wants to leave at once, and Aleksei, who knows that one wrong step could cost them everything.
