Easy Virtue

(1928)Directed by Alfred Hitchcock70 minRomance, Drama
“Can she be blamed for a past she didn't create?”

A divorce court has just made a public spectacle of Larita Filton (Isabel Jeans), accused of adultery she says she did not commit, and she leaves for the French Riviera under a new name. There she falls for John Whittaker (Robin Irvine), a young Englishman, and goes home with him to meet a family that disapproves of her. Hitchcock's silent film is about how a reputation, once the papers have it, follows a person into every room.
