“The newest coach in the NBA has got the Knicks right where she wants them.”

A New York limo driver and lifelong Knicks fanatic wins a contest to be the team's honorary coach, then finds out the new owner liked the crowd's reaction so much he fired the real coach and gave her the job. Eddie Franklin (Whoopi Goldberg) now has a locker room of overpaid, indifferent players, and Wild Bill Burgess (Frank Langella) watching from the owner's seat. Steve Rash keeps the camera on Eddie's grin and the noisy Madison Square Garden fans.
