Eric Hunter (Chris Stafford) is seventeen in Sandusky, Ohio, in 1984, and he wants to work out who he is without letting anyone at home or school see him doing it. His best friend Maggie (Tina Holmes) stays close while he takes his first real steps toward people his own age. David Moreton keeps the camera on Eric's face and lets his small, awkward moments play without any rush.
