Edge of the City

“Tense drama of frightened men!”

Axel Nordmann (John Cassavetes) is an army deserter who takes a job on the docks, keeping to himself and giving nobody his story. Tommy Tyler (Sidney Poitier), a dock worker, befriends him, while the manager, Charles Malik (Jack Warden), runs the crew his own corrupt way. Martin Ritt, making his first feature, adapts Robert Alan Aurthur's own teleplay and keeps the camera at working height among the men.
