Eisenstein in Guanajuato
Sergei Eisenstein (Elmer Bäck) is a celebrated Soviet director, fresh from the success of Battleship Potemkin and freshly turned away by Hollywood. In 1931 he travels to Guanajuato, Mexico, to shoot a new film, with his guide Palomino Cañedo (Luis Alberti) as chaperone. Peter Greenaway follows him through ten days of unfamiliar pleasures, and the last thing we see is Eisenstein, the man who once ruled the screen, looking out at a city that has taken hold of him.
