Eleventh-century Castile is where Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar (Manel Fuentes) grows up, schooled young, running adventures with his friend Sancho and calling on Jimena (Natalia Verbeke), the daughter of the Count of Gormaz. José Pozo animates the legend of El Cid from his boyhood, before King Fernando dies and the plots around the throne begin to close in. Rodrigo has a best friend, a woman he loves and his honor, and all of it is within reach of the conspirators.
