El Dorado

“It's the big one with the big two!”

Cole Thornton (John Wayne) is a gunfighter for hire, and he rides into the town of El Dorado to side with an old friend, Sheriff J.P. Harrah (Robert Mitchum). Howard Hawks puts them on the side of a rancher and his family, whose rival is trying to take their water. Harrah drinks too much and Cole knows it, and the friendship between them is the part of the picture that carries the most weight.
