A psychiatric hospital in Montreal has a missing doctor and one patient who may know why. Dr. Toby Green (Bruce Greenwood) is sent to question Michael Aleen (Xavier Dolan), a disturbed young man who answers in riddles and asks for things before he will say anything. Charles Binamé keeps the two of them in a small room, where Michael studies the doctor as closely as he is studied.
