Elevator to the Gallows

Julien Tavernier (Maurice Ronet) wants Florence Carala (Jeanne Moreau), and the one thing between them is her husband, Simon (Jean Wall), the man Julien works for. In his directorial debut, Louis Malle follows the plot Julien and Florence have built together, a killing meant to look clean, as it begins to come apart. Florence waits for him through the night, and neither can tell what the other is doing.
