In 1976 America, the home laboratory of Dr. Paul Holliston (Rock Hudson) is where a human fetus grows inside an artificial uterus. His method speeds it into a full adult in a matter of days, and Victoria Spencer (Barbara Carrera) is the result. Ralph Nelson builds the film around the cost of treating a person as an experiment, and what a life grown that fast might owe the man who started it.
