Emperor of the North
“If you can ride Shack's Train and Live - You'll be...”
One conductor on one railway line will not let a single hobo ride free, and the men who try pay for it. In 1930s Oregon, A No. 1 (Lee Marvin) sets out to catch his train, while Shack (Ernest Borgnine) waits to stop him. Robert Aldrich builds the story around the old Depression joke of the "Emperor of the North Pole," a crown over nothing but empty, frozen ground.
