Joe (Daniel Craig) wants one clean afternoon with Claire (Samantha Morton), a picnic in the English countryside and a bottle of champagne waiting to be opened. Then a hot air balloon drifts into the field with a boy stuck in the basket, and Joe runs to help. Roger Michell follows Joe and a stranger, Jed (Rhys Ifans), who each leave that field bound to the other, while Claire watches Joe pull away from her.
