England Is Mine

Steven Patrick Morrissey (Jack Lowden) is a shy young man in 1970s Manchester who wants to be a writer and a singer, though he has no band and no one who takes him seriously. He lives with his mother Elizabeth (Simone Kirby) and spends his days on the dole, drawn toward Linder Sterling (Jessica Brown Findlay) and the bohemian crowd around her. Mark Gill, in his first feature as director, keeps the camera close and the picture grainy.
