Halloween night in a small town, where Ernest P. Worrell (Jim Varney) is the kind of well-meaning handyman who can't walk through a room without knocking over a lamp. He accidentally opens a sacred tomb and lets loose a troll on the town, and a 200-year-old curse leaves him scared stupid. John Cherry sends Ernest and a handful of local kids after it, and Ernest stands in the middle of the commotion, eyes wide, still sure he can help.
