Escape to Victory

(1981)Directed by John Huston116 min · PG-13Drama, War
“Now is the time for heroes.”

In a German prison camp during the Second World War, Allied prisoners kick a ball around the yard between roll calls. Captain John Colby (Michael Caine), a former professional footballer, trains them as a team, with Captain Robert Hatch (Sylvester Stallone) and Cpl. Luis Fernandez (Pelé) among the men who join. John Huston films their match against the German national side, and the prisoners walk onto the pitch with their lives as the price of playing it.
