Hussein (Omar Sharif) is a shy young man who wants one thing, which is for Samiha (Soad Hosny) to notice him, but she is busy with her singing and dancing cousin Lucy. Samiha's father, Abdel Qader El Nashashgy (Youssef Wahby), admires Hussein enough to start a rumor that he is carrying on with the famous actress Hind Rostom. Fatin Abdel Wahab lets the whole town talk, and the gossip keeps pulling Hussein and Samiha toward each other.
