Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

“You can erase someone from your mind. Getting them out of your heart is another story.”

In the days after a breakup, Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) learns that his girlfriend Clementine Kruczynski (Kate Winslet) has had a procedure that erased him from her memory. Hurt, he books the same procedure and lies down while the technicians, Stan (Mark Ruffalo) and Patrick (Elijah Wood), work through his head. Michel Gondry stages the erasure inside Joel's own mind, where each memory of her comes apart as he is still living it.
