Eternity and a Day

“How long will tomorrow last?”

Alexander (Bruno Ganz) is a celebrated writer who has one day left before he enters the hospital where he expects to die. A letter from his wife Anna (Isabelle Renauld) describes a summer day thirty years ago, and he leaves his seaside home to go back through his memories. Theo Angelopoulos lets the past and the present share the same rooms, while Alexander has only these final hours to make sense of what he never said.
