Ethel & Ernest

“Forty years of change. One enduring love.”

How did two ordinary Londoners come to carry so much of the twentieth century through their front door? Ernest (Jim Broadbent) and Ethel (Brenda Blethyn) marry in 1928 and stay together until their deaths in 1971, with their son Raymond (Luke Treadaway) drawing them from memory. Roger Mainwood animates them by hand, and the last thing in view is the two of them at home, Ernest and Ethel still side by side.
